Man-Back (Last Man):

Man-back, or last man, is the defender who stays deepest in rotation and is closest to their own goal when teammates have moved upfield. In Rocket League, the man-back is responsible for covering counterattacks, challenging carefully, and buying time until teammates recover into defensive positions.

The role matters because it reduces the chance of giving up open-net goals after an attack fails. Good man-back play usually means staying patient, avoiding overcommitment, and being ready to clear, shadow, or make the first save.
